I’m not overstating the title – science museum weddings are THE BEST. It’s no secret that I am a big nerd and love science (I used to be a molecular biologist, after all!). When I got married, the wedding’s cost was the primary factor, and it never even crossed my mind to get married at a science museum. We incorporated various science elements into our wedding (including a lab meeting Powerpoint presentation as our ceremony!), but with hindsight, I really wish I’d investigated the possibility of getting married at a science museum!
So, why are science museum weddings the best? First and foremost, you get to have awesome science-y photos. If you get married at The Museum of Science in Boston, you can have your photos taken with dinosaurs.
You can have them taken in a space shuttle!
Steven is a mathematician, so he and Laura were psyched to have photos taken in the Mathematica exhibit!
Your wedding photographer will love you forever. The potential for photographic creativity and fun is endless in a science museum. It’s like being a kid in a candy store! Whenever I am shooting in any sort of museum I have a perma-smile plastered to my face that probably looks ridiculous. You should have seen me nearly jump for joy when this fish swam by for this photo at The New England Aquarium!
Your ceremony will certainly be unique! Depending at what museum you get married, you can choose what exhibit you’d like as your ceremony backdrop. I can’t really think of a more unique ceremony location than the Museum of Science’s Theater of Electricity!
Your guests will be psyched to attend a science museum wedding! There are so many things to look at during cocktail hour, visual interest to absorb during dinner, and exhibits to check out after dinner.
Science museum weddings are great because I get to take photos of guests interacting with the museum. I love this next set of photos from a wedding at the Harvard Museum of Natural History because the museum is just as much a character in the photos as the wedding guests are.
Finally, science museums are some of the coolest places on earth. What’s better than learning a little about geology during your wedding?
