JJ and Mathieu got married in a beautiful ceremony at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth on Saturday! It was the most wonderful wedding day, and I’m so happy I got to share it with them!
I started the day off with JJ, who was getting ready at the Pilgrim Sands Hotel.
We’d originally planned to do the first look on the beach, but since it was high tide, we had to come up with a backup plan. This next photo is of JJ and her maid of honor looking out at the beach trying to figure out a good spot! I love this next photo of JJ walking down the hotel’s hallway on her way to the first look. Some folks whose home is right next to the hotel were kind of enough to let us use their staircase down to the beach for the first look.
The water was so blue! Now, what I didn’t mention was that JJ’s maid of honor drove her to the first look, which was literally feet from the hotel. They drove because it was a bit of a climb over some steep rocks to get to the house, and we weren’t sure it was the best idea for JJ to do it in her long dress and heels. On their way to the house, they stopped, signaled left, and were waiting to turn into the driveway when someone tried to pass them on the right. In so doing, he rear-ended them and collided with a telephone pole. It was crazy. JJ and her maid of honor were totally fine, and the driver of the other car had what seemed to be an airbag related injury to his face.
JJ was amazing and took it all in stride, and rallied for the first look. And did you see her smiles in the photos above? I’m so impressed with how composed and positive she was throughout the whole ordeal.
After the first look we walked over to meet the wedding party who were getting ready to board a trolley. This was the scene at the hotel. These two firemen were great sports and let us take a photo with them to remember this part of the day! It was a pretty eventful start to the wedding day, that’s for sure!
From there we took a trolley to Plimoth Plantation where the ceremony was to be held. Plimoth Plantation is an epic place for a wedding ceremony. Look at that smile! This next photo is one of my favorites. Such a beautiful place to get married. Mathieu put on this red, white and blue lei during the ceremony. He’d kept it from the night he and JJ met at a party.JJ and Mathieu’s parents shared advice on marriage as part of the ceremony. When the ceremony was over, we took some photos of JJ and Mathieu in the gardens surrounding the ceremony site. The light was beautiful.
Here are a few of the wedding party. JJ wanted to take photos in front of this orange jeep! After that we headed to the reception, which was full of fabulous orange and blue details.
I loved these balloons so much.JJ and Mathieu surprised their guests with a duet instead of a first dance! The reception was so much fun! It was one of the best dancing crowds I’ve had the pleasure to photograph at a wedding reception. Congrats to JJ & Mathieu! I’m so happy I got to spend this crazy wedding day with you!
